The world’s second largest economy; China is now the world’s biggest instrument factory, having surpassed the U.S. to become No.1 in the production and exportation of musical instruments.
According to government reports, Chinese manufactured pianos, violins and guitars account for 50% to 70% of world’s instrument production, and most of these instruments are sold overseas.
In 2013 the total sales value of musical instruments reached 28 billion yuan, compared to 8 billion yuan from 10 years ago.
And that trend is set to continue. Secretary General of China Musical Instrument Association, Zeng Zemin, told CCTV he predicts the number to exceed the 30 billion yuan mark by this year.
