Thought to be the first of its kind, a Hello Kitty themed park opened for trial operation on New Year’s Day in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, to the delight of Hello Kitty fans across China.
Covering an area of 100,000 square meters and costing over $ 300 million to build, the park is said to be the largest outdoor Hello Kitty theme park outside Japan. The massive complex is comprised of six main areas, each with different themes. It will officially open to the public on May 1 this year.
However, the price might be as rosy as the adorable cat. The entrance ticket for an adult is 260 yuan ($42) and 200 ($32) for children, which is higher than most of the theme parks in China.
Despite the costs, true fans still couldn’t resist the temptation to visit their favorite kitty as they created a traffic jam on the main highway leading to the park on New Year’s Day.
