Aircraft Engineering in China - COMAC wins 507 orders for C919

State-run Ping An Leasing, a subsidiary of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China, announced it had signed a letter of intent for purchasing 50 COMAC C919 aircraft, the 168-seater aircraft, according to Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC).

The accord was signed on the first day of the 51st International Paris Air Show which began Monday and will last seven days.

In addition, Germany’s Puren Air also signed a letter of intent to purchase seven ARJ21-700 aircraft and seven C919 large aircraft, bringing the total number of pledges for China’s first large passenger jet under development to 507.

It is understood that the first C919 aircraft for test flight is being assembled in Shanghai and is expected to roll off the production line this year.

The nose section of C919 China-made large passenger aircraft has been delivered to Pu Dong assembly base of the Commercial Aircraft Corp. of China (COMAC) in Shanghai, east China, Oct. 15, 2014. It's about to enter the docking stage, and to be assembled with front fuselage. China completed the assembly of the nose part on Jul. 31, the 6.6-meter-long nose, consisting of 3,200 components, uses a large amount of advanced composite materials like aluminum-lithium alloy and titanium alloy. The first C919 airliner is expected to make a maiden flight by the end of 2015. (Source: Xinhua)


In the same event, Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) with the theme of ‘dancing in the sky with the world’ also made debuts at the 51st International Paris Air Show which opened on June 15, 2015. 

AVIC’s key aircraft products for overseas markets are presented at the show, with the aims of exploring the international market and enhancing its communication with the international aviation industry.
